A dummy ticket for the Philippines is a reservation held without payment, not a ticket, so an airline agent or immigration officer may refuse it.

Visa-free entry for Indian passport holders
Since 8 June 2025, Indian passport holders can enter the Philippines without a visa for 14 days. eVisaPH gives it as "a non-extendible and non-convertible period of 14 days for tourism and business purposes", on presenting a passport valid for at least six months beyond the stay, "confirmed hotel accommodation / booking", "proof of financial capacity" and a return or onward ticket.
Indian nationals holding a valid American, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, Singapore or UK visa or residence permit (AJACSSUK) get "a non-extendible period of 30 days for tourism" instead. That route lists only the passport and the return or onward ticket. Both routes work at any Philippine port of entry, neither can be converted to a visa-based stay, and you must have no derogatory record with the Bureau of Immigration.

Transit is the exception that catches people. eVisaPH says Indian nationals "transiting in the Philippines", or coming for long-term visits or non-tourism activities, must apply for a Philippine visa at an embassy or consulate. The Philippine News Agency reported the scheme on 7 June 2025 as a measure to raise tourist arrivals from India.
What the onward ticket rule asks for
The rule asks for a ticket that takes you out of the Philippines, either back home or on to your next country. The Indian-specific wording is "return or onward ticket to the next country of destination", and the general visa-free rule on the same page says "return tickets to their country of origin or outward-bound tickets to their next country of destination". A flight from Manila to Delhi fits. So does Cebu to Singapore or Manila to Kuala Lumpur, if that is where you are going next.
The date matters as much as the route, because neither stay can be extended. Say you land in Manila on 5 October 2026 on the 14-day entry. Counting the arrival day as day one, which is the safe reading, day 14 is 18 October. A flight out on 17 October leaves a day of margin. A flight on 20 October does not fit the stay you are given, whatever else you carry.
The wording does not say "paid" or "confirmed". It does say "ticket", and a held reservation is not one. Our proof of onward travel guide compares how other countries word the same rule.
The eTravel registration
eTravel is the Philippines' free online arrival registration, and you need its QR code before you board. GOV.UK says: "You must have a QR code to show that you have registered on the e-travel system within the 72 hours before your arrival in the Philippines." The official portal, etravel.gov.ph, states "eTravel is FREE".
eTravel matters at check-in as well as on arrival. GOV.UK warns: "Some airlines will not allow you to board your flight to the Philippines if you cannot show the QR code." Register inside the 72-hour window, save the QR code on your phone, and carry your onward ticket separately. The QR code is not proof of onward travel.
Airline checks on flights to Manila and Cebu
Airlines flying to the Philippines can ask for your onward ticket before they board you. That is what GOV.UK means by "airlines may ask for this": check-in staff work from IATA's Timatic database of entry rules, and the Philippines lists a return or onward ticket as a condition of visa-free entry. An airline that expects you to be refused entry can refuse to carry you.

Dummy ticket for the Philippines or a paid ticket
A paid ticket out of the Philippines meets the wording as written; a dummy ticket for the Philippines costs less but may be refused. The reservation that Dummy Tickets Visa (DTV) supplies is a real booking with a PNR you can look up on the airline's Manage booking page while the hold is live. It has no e-ticket number, which is what an agent looking for an issued ticket checks for; our page on PNR and e-ticket numbers explains the difference. It cannot be used to board.

If you carry a reservation, keep a card that can buy a ticket at the airport, and if you are asked, say it is a flight reservation. DTV is not affiliated with the Philippine government, any embassy or any airline, and we cannot tell you how a particular agent or officer will treat a reservation.
Confirmed hotel booking and proof of financial capacity
The 14-day entry also asks for "confirmed hotel accommodation / booking" and "proof of financial capacity". eVisaPH does not define either or give an amount. The 30-day AJACSSUK entry does not list them. The hotel wording says "confirmed", so the same caution applies as for the ticket: a reservation voucher may be read differently from a paid booking.
DTV's hotel reservation voucher covers the city and the check-in and check-out dates you enter on the form, at ₹699 per hotel, per passenger. For several cities or a long stay, ask on WhatsApp before you order.
If you order a reservation for a flight out of the Philippines
Choose a route that leaves the Philippines and a date inside your 14 or 30 days. We make the booking in the airline's reservation system for the names, route and dates you enter; the booking desk chooses the airline and flight, and a preferred carrier in the notes box is a request, not a promise. It costs ₹699 per passenger, and a one-way reservation costs the same as a return. Pay by UPI in India, or about US$8.50 by PayPal or card from outside India.
Pick the day before your flight in the "When do you want to receive it?" field. The PDF arrives by email or WhatsApp, typically 10 to 20 minutes after payment is confirmed, with delays possible at weekends and on holidays. Frequently asked questions
Can I extend the 14-day visa-free stay once I am in the Philippines?
No. eVisaPH gives the 14 days as "non-extendible and non-convertible", and says the visa-free privileges are not convertible to a visa-based stay. The 30-day AJACSSUK entry is non-extendible too. If you need longer than your entry allows, apply for a Philippine visa at an embassy or consulate before you travel.
Can I transit through Manila without a visa on the way to another country?
Not under this scheme. eVisaPH says Indian nationals "transiting in the Philippines" must apply for an appropriate Philippine visa at a Philippine embassy or consulate. Does the 14-day visa-free entry cover a business trip?
eVisaPH says the 14 days are "for tourism and business purposes". The same page also says Indians coming for "non-tourism activities" need a visa, and the Philippine News Agency described the measure as a tourism one. If your trip is for work, confirm with the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi before you rely on visa-free entry.
Does the eTravel QR code replace the onward ticket?
No. eTravel is a free online registration done within the 72 hours before you arrive. The onward ticket is a separate condition on the eVisaPH list. GOV.UK says airlines and immigration officials may ask for onward proof, and some airlines will not board you without the QR code, so carry both.
Can a ferry ticket count as onward proof from the Philippines?
No official source we read confirms it. The general visa-free rule speaks of "outward-bound tickets to their next country of destination" without naming a mode of transport, but the airline flying you in will usually look for a flight. If you plan to leave by sea, ask your airline before you travel.
What should I say if an officer asks about my onward flight?
Describe it accurately. If it is a paid ticket, say so. If it is a reservation on hold, say it is a flight reservation, not a ticket. The officer decides whether it meets the rule, and a truthful answer about a real, checkable booking is the only safe one.
