Dummy ticket for Greece visa: what the Greek checklist asks for

A dummy ticket for a Greece visa is a flight reservation: a booking made in the airline's reservation system and held without paying the fare, with a PNR you can look up on the airline's website. The Embassy of Greece's checklist for applicants in India asks for a "Flight reservation of return or round ticket" and nowhere asks for a bought fare. Dummy Tickets Visa (DTV) issues this kind of reservation for ₹699 per passenger.

What Greece's checklist asks for: a flight reservation, not a paid ticket

Greece's checklist asks for a flight reservation, and nothing on it calls for a paid or issued ticket. The Schengen document list from the Consular Section of the Embassy of Greece in New Delhi, published on GVCW's site, asks under "Proof of means of transport" for a "Flight reservation of return or round ticket". If you visit more than one Schengen country, it also asks for proof of the leg between them: a flight reservation, a train itinerary or a car rental.

Under "Proof of lodging" the list asks for hotel reservations, a holiday-home rental or a campus residence booking. If you stay with family or friends, it asks for proof of sponsorship or private accommodation from your host. Every applicant also needs a "Cover Letter explaining the details of visit", a bank statement for the last three months stamped and signed by the bank, and ITR acknowledgements for the last two assessment years. Our Schengen cover letter guide covers what the letter should say.

Greece visa fee, GVCW service fee and processing time

A Greek Schengen visa costs €90 for an adult, shown as ₹9,990 on GVCW's tourism visa page in September 2026, plus a GVCW service fee of €30 per application. GVCW says the service fee is paid in rupees, includes VAT and other taxes, and follows the daily exchange rate. You pay both in cash or by UPI. The Embassy says the visa fee is not refunded if the visa is refused; the pages we read do not say whether GVCW refunds its own fee.

GVCW gives Greece's own processing figures: "Visa applications may take up to 15 days to process." A file that needs consultation with other Schengen countries "may be extended up to 45 working days", and anyone who submits at a centre outside New Delhi should add 5 days to the minimum. The Indian-insurer rule for Greek applications

For a Greek application lodged in India, your travel medical insurance must come from one of a set list of Indian insurers. The Embassy's list says: "as of 01/10/2013, travel medical insurances will be accepted only if they are issued by specific Indian insurance companies." The usual conditions still apply: at least €30,000 of cover, valid in every Schengen state for the whole stay, including repatriation for medical reasons and emergency treatment.

Where to apply: GVCW's 15 centres, not VFS

Greek visa applications in India go through Global Visa Center World (GVCW), not VFS Global. GVCW describes itself as "the exclusive External Service Provider of the Greek Consular Authorities in India", and its centre list names 15 cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry and Pune. Most Schengen states use VFS in India, so a VFS appointment is no use for Greece.

The document list is issued by the Embassy's Consular Section in New Delhi. Neither it nor the GVCW pages we read assign Indian states to particular centres, so confirm on GVCW's centre page which one you may use before you book. How far ahead to book your GVCW appointment

Book as early as your plans allow. GVCW's own page urges applicants "to submit their applications now and not later", publishes no typical wait for a slot, and sets the last filing day at 15 working days before travel. Its live calendar is the only guide to how soon you can get in.

Here is how that works for a flight to Athens on Friday 18 December 2026, lodged at the Mumbai centre:

• About 16 October leaves roughly 45 working days, enough even if your file is sent to other Schengen states for consultation.
• Late October or early November leaves the standard 15 days, Mumbai's 5 extra days, and time for your passport to come back.
• About 27 November is the last day under the 15-working-day rule, earlier if public holidays fall in between. Lodging then leaves no margin.

Athens and island routings from India

A Greece file usually shows a return flight to Athens (ATH), the country's main international airport and the usual starting point for island flights and ferries. The booking desk chooses the airline and the connection; you can name a preferred airline in the notes box, as a request rather than a promise.

Island trips add a leg from Athens. Santorini (JTR) and Mykonos (JMK) have airports with domestic flights from Athens, and ferries leave from the port of Piraeus. A domestic flight can go on your reservation as a multi-city itinerary, priced at ₹699 per two flights, per passenger. A ferry cannot go on a flight reservation, so describe it in your cover letter and day-by-day plan. The Greek list asks for separate transport proof only for travel between Schengen states.

Getting a dummy ticket for Greece visa applications

1. Fix every leg and date

   Decide your Athens dates and any island flights, then use the same dates on the visa form, the insurance policy and the hotel reservations.

2. Order on the booking form

   Enter each name exactly as in the passport, with date of birth, nationality, route and dates, on the booking form. No passport scan and no account are needed.

3. Choose the delivery date

   Pick the day before your GVCW appointment in the "When do you want to receive it?" field.

4. Check the PNR

   Look the booking up on the airline's website before you submit it, using our PNR check guide.
