A dummy ticket in India is a flight reservation held in the airline's system without paying the fare. Dummy Tickets Visa charges ₹699 per passenger, one-way or return, paid by UPI, and sends the PDF by WhatsApp or email, typically 10–20 minutes after payment is confirmed. It has a PNR you can check on the airline's website. It is not a paid ticket and cannot be used to board.
A dummy ticket in India is ordered the same way from a metro or a small town. Receive the PDF and check the PNR
The itinerary arrives by WhatsApp or email. Look up the PNR on the airline's website before you submit your file.
Time it so the PDF reaches you the day before your appointment. A reservation is a temporary hold, and how long it stays live depends on the airline, so one made a week early may have lapsed by the time an officer looks. The form asks "When do you want to receive it?", and the reservation is issued on the date you pick, so you can order today and receive it later. What Indian applicants use a flight reservation for
The reservation is used in two ways: as the flight itinerary in a visa file, and as proof of a way out when you travel without a visa. What the rule asks for differs from country to country.
- A Schengen visa. For applicants in India, the EU's common document list asks for a "Flight reservation of return or round ticket", and the EU's handbook for consular staff says a paid return ticket should not be required when you apply. The Schengen visa guide goes country by country.
- A UK, US, Canada or Australia visitor visa. A flight booking is not a required document for any of the four, and the UK, US and Australian governments tell applicants not to book or buy travel before a decision. Some applicants add a reservation so the dates on the form and the cover letter match. The UK, US and Canada guides explain each case.
- A Gulf visit. The rules depend on the country and on who arranges the visa. For UAE visas it arranges, Emirates asks for a copy of a return Emirates ticket, which a reservation is not, so read the Dubai and UAE guide before you order.
- Onward travel on a visa-free or visa-on-arrival trip. As of September 2026, Indian passport holders can enter Malaysia and Thailand without a visa and get a visa on arrival in Indonesia, but airlines and immigration officers can ask to see a way out. Malaysia's wording is "Confirmed Return Flight Tickets", which a held reservation may not satisfy. Proof of onward travel covers the airport side.

Visa application centres in India: who handles which country
For most destinations, a private operator takes your application in India: VFS Global, BLS International or GVCW, depending on the country. The USA, Australia and New Zealand work differently. A visa application centre collects your documents, fingerprints and fee and forwards the file. It does not decide the visa: the Italian Embassy states that centre staff have no authority to assess applications or make decisions.

How consular jurisdiction by state works
Some countries make you apply at the office that covers the state where you legally live, and others let you use any centre in India. Italy is the clearest case. Its embassy states: "Legal residence in the relevant consular jurisdiction is required in order to apply for a visa." The embassy and three consulates general split India as follows.

So a Kochi resident applies under Mumbai, not Bengaluru, even though Bengaluru is closer. China's visa centres in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata also work by jurisdiction. Germany is the opposite: the German missions accept applications at any VFS centre in India, wherever you live. Australia and New Zealand have no jurisdiction question at all, because you apply online.
If your town has no visa centre, you still apply at the centre or consulate that covers your state, which may be a long trip away, so set the reservation's delivery date around that journey. - Every name on the reservation matches the passport exactly, including a single-name passport (see how a name without a surname is written).
- The flight dates match your application form, travel insurance and hotel booking.
- The PDF reached you the day before the appointment, and the PNR opens on the airline's website.
- You know which centre and which jurisdiction your file belongs to.
- If anyone asks, you describe the document as a flight reservation, not a ticket.

Is a dummy ticket legal in India?
A flight reservation made in the airline's own system is a real booking, not a forged document. The trouble starts when a reservation is described as a paid ticket, or when a PDF is edited, so always call it a reservation. We cannot give legal advice. Can a consulate check my dummy ticket?
It can look up the PNR on the airline's website while the hold is live, and so can you before you submit. It is a genuine reservation, not an edited or generated PDF, so a check normally shows your name and flights and no e-ticket number, though the display varies by airline. What if my dates change after the reservation is issued?
Message the order ID on WhatsApp and you will be told the quickest way to get a reservation for the new dates. Changes are not automatically free, and orders are final once the reservation has been issued. To avoid this, choose a delivery date the day before your appointment.
